Preparing Educators for a Changing World:

Education for Sustainable Development

  

The Sampoerna School of Education (SSE) through Sampoerna Foundation Teacher Institute (SFTI) actively strives to change this approach to teaching and to help teachersimprove their skills, knowledge and confidence to explore new and innovative teachingmethods. At the same time, we seek to improve the status of the teaching profession within the community.

 

The Sampoerna School of Education (SSE) through Sampoerna Foundation Teacher Institute (SFTI) actively strives to change this approach to teaching and to help teachersimprove their skills, knowledge and confidence to explore new and innovative teachingmethods. At the same time, we seek to improve the status of the teaching profession within the community.

 

One of the ways we work to achieve this is through the annual teachers’ congress or Kongres Guru Indonesia (KGI). This gathering provides more than 1,000 teachers fromacross Indonesia with the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and approaches tolearning from educationalist as well as to share their experiences with colleagues.

KGI has been held for three times since 2006 to 2008. For the past three years KGI has been giving new knowledge and methods as well as the place to share experiences formore than 3,000 teachers and education practitioners from all over Indonesia. The fourthKGI is expected to provide teachers and education practitioners with sustainable teaching and learning opportunities that will lead to improved practices and approach tolearning in their schools and community.

 

 

This fourth congress is titled, “Preparing Educators for a Changing World: Education for Sustainable Development” and will be held May 20th – 21st 2010 in Jakarta with international and national speakers.
